About Us

The voice of individual investors in the UK

ShareSoc is the UK’s leading advocate for individual investors, empowering members with the knowledge, resources and support to invest with confidence and protect their financial interests.

Who we are

A shareholders’ association that speaks with one voice

ShareSoc, the UK Individual Shareholders Society, champions the rights of private shareholders, challenging both companies and government to ensure individual investors are treated fairly.

Many of the problems in UK share investment stem from private shareholders lacking a collective voice. As a shareholders’ association, ShareSoc enables coordinated advocacy through representation, campaigns and formal responses to official consultations, so that individual investors can influence national policy and company practice.

If you invest in shares, funds or bonds listed on public markets, ShareSoc exists to support and represent you.

What drives us

Why ShareSoc exists

The need to speak with one voice

Individual investors must unite and communicate with a unified message to influence policy or company behaviour. ShareSoc is that collective voice.

Information is power

Investors are too often left without the knowledge they need. We keep members informed through weekly newsletters, a quarterly magazine, blogs and topical forums.

Improving investment skills

There is a dearth of high-quality, independent education for self-directed investors. The ShareSoc Investor Academy addresses that gap.

For investors, by investors

A not-for-profit run on member subscriptions and donations, governed by an elected board of unpaid volunteer directors. We are incorporated as a company limited by guarantee.
